Sept. 16
Just Hangin'
Photographers meet at the Art Center at 6:30 pm (this will give us a chance to grab a bite first) to hang the photo show.

PHOTO FRIENDS: Photo Work by 6 Friends
Opens at Brookston Apple Popcorn Festival, Saturday, September 19, from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm Artists will be on hand through the day. Come & bring a friend! Ash Grove Elevator Shoot
We will meet on a Saturday at 1:00 pm and go together and make images documenting the Ash Grove Elevator south of Brookston, about a mile west of SR 43. All mediums welcome. Meet at the Art Center, go to the bridge site with cameras and art supplies. We will post the date soon...

2008

May 12 - Sept. 17
LOUIE LASKOWSKI: Old & New
A collection of paintings by Louie Laskowski (b. 1947), who earned a masters degree in art from Purdue University teaches art at Harrison High School in West Lafayette and has lived in Brookston, Indiana, since 1982. Louies work has shown and won awards regionally, nationally and internationally. She has received Contemporary Artists Center and Vermont Center for the Arts fellowships, Indiana Arts Commission and Lilly Endowment grants, and represented Indiana at the National Museum of Woman in the Arts, Washington, D.C. This exhibition includes pieces from a number of Louies series, including: Patchwork/Crazy Quilt Series, The Pink House Series, The Dress Series, Crazy Frames, Spirits Dimension, Small Quilt Series, Large Quilt Series, New Mexico work, Encaustic and Collaged work. The work in this show spans the period from 1991 to the present.

Oct. 20 - Nov. 13
84th Annual HOOSIER SALON EXHIBITION
The Brookston Art Center again hosts the Hoosier Salon. This will be the 84th annual exhibit of the group. The show is open October 20th through November 13th. An Opening Reception will be on November 8th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

Sept. 18 - Oct. 5
83rd Annual HOOSIER SALON EXHIBITION
Opening/Closing October 5th, 5 to 7 pm. Gallery is open from 5 to 7 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Also on a drop-in or appointment basis.

We will meet at 5:00 pm and go together and make images documenting the old iron bridge southeast of Brookston on 100 W. (It is slated for demolition this summer.) All mediums welcome. Meet at the Art Center, go to the bridge site with cameras and art supplies.

Paper Fish Project
Meet at the Art Center at 11:30 am for papermaking. Lunch at Klein Brot Haus. All participants receive a paper fish! Also work will be in progress on the gallery.

Opening Reception for Brookston artist, Louie Laskowski. Gallery 415, 415 Lasalle St., Chicago, Illinois. War & Peace, a juried national show. Opening talk by Ed Paschke. Meet at the Art Center and ride up together. Dinner at Berghoffs, $10-20. Reception is from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. Back around 12 pm.

Opening Reception for Brookston artist, Vincent Leman. Addendum Gallery, 111 West Main St., Carmel, Indiana. Meet at the Art Center and ride down together. We'll stop for a bite on the way, $5-10. Reception is from 6 to 9 pm. Back around 10 pm.

Lets Go to the Fair! Take your art to the Indiana State Fair. Bring up to 3 pieces to enter. We will fill out and submit entry forms for all items. We will determine department, section, and class for each piece. We will check all work for conformity to State Fair rules, tag all pieces, and make final preparations to take work to fair. We will suggest necessary changes to framing, hanging hardware, etc. Bring your artwork and a check for $30 (in addition to workshop fee) made out to Indiana State Fair. (Note: you will receive 6 tickets to the fair, a $36 value!)
